Samsung Electronics reported a massive 80% surge in operating profit for its semiconductor business in the third quarter, reaching 7 trillion won. This performance, significantly beating analyst estimates, was largely fueled by booming demand for AI-related memory chips.

The explosive growth was driven by strong sales of its HBM3E memory, which helped the company's memory division achieve a record quarterly revenue. The AI investment wave also boosted demand and prices for conventional DRAM and NAND chips, allowing Samsung to reclaim its position as the world's top memory chipmaker by revenue.
